Geothermal & New Facility
In 2008, Two C Pack opened its new 315,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Nashua, NH. It incorporates many environmentally friendly components. The highlight was a geothermal heating and cooling system. A geothermal system relies primarily on the earth’s natural thermal energy to provide heating, cooling, and hot water. Geothermal systems are very efficient. Over 70% of the energy used is renewable energy from the ground. Geothermal systems are almost 50% more efficient than conventional heating and cooling systems. They use no fossil fuels and generate far fewer greenhouse gas emissions than conventional gas or oil systems. This is important when you consider that 40% of all CO2 emissions are the result of the heating and cooling of residential and commercial buildings. By utilizing this E.P.A endorsed system it is estimated that over its life, our geothermal system will displace approximately 500,000 lbs of CO2 that otherwise would have entered the atmosphere. This is the equivalent of taking 3,788 cars off the road or planting 43,000 trees. With our recent installation, Two C Pack has become the only packaging company in the U.S. to have this environmentally preferable geothermal system. It is one of the largest installations in the Northeast. We are proud of our commitment to the environment and hope it inspires others to make similar choices. Our new facility includes other sustainable design components such as energy efficient T-5 lighting, low-flow water fixtures, improved energy efficient bailing system and air compressors, and 100% wind power.
